Bee Hive Removal
If you have a bee hive on your property, you should contact Bee Safe today. Do not risk you or your family being stung. In some cases, bees will chase down intruders, leaving an unsafe environment around your house. Bee Safe will remove the bees and the bee hive, giving yo
u a safe backyard to play or work in.
While both man-made and naturally occurring structures can be called a bee hive, typically naturally occurring bee hives are called nests. Bees use bee hives to store food and eggs, raise larva, and they live in it at nights since bees are less active at night.
The bee hive consists of wall after wall of honeycomb that has many sockets in it. These sockets are used to store food and their young. The nests usually only have one hole that points downward that acts as a door for bees leaving and entering the bee hive.
It is important to remove the bee hive in order to solve your bee problem completely. Not only can bees reproduce at the bee hive, but bees can return and reuse the bee hive even if you kill all of its prior inhabitants. Also, bees will defend their bee hive and attack anything they deem as intruders. This could present a great danger to you if a bee hive is in an inconvenient location.
Can you save Africanized or hybrid bees?
Yes, we can save an africanized bee hive, but only under certain conditions. In the city it would be way to dangerous to remove Africanized bees alive. When these types of bees get mad they don’t just attack the nearest bystander and stop, they will attack everything in the neighborhood, including kids, dogs, cats, birds, etc. They are vicious when they get disturbed. So when there is an area with enough open land around, africanized bees can be removed alive, but only if conditions are safe.
After transporting the hive to a remote area we can change them into a European bee hive. There are not many beekeepers that actually want to have an africanized or hybrid bee hive in their bee yard. But the amazing thing about honeybees, is that we can re-queen it. This means replacing the Africanized queen with a European queen bee. Within four months the very aggresive africanized hive will turn into a sweet, dosile European honeybee hive. This is the only way that a Beekeeper will actually be willing to come out and remove your killer bee hive alive.
Can you get rid of bees in an owl box or bird house?
The best way to solve your owl box or bird house bee problem is to actually get it removed from your property, box in all. We have found with experience that if you remove the bees and leave the original box intact, a new swarm of bees will move into it the same year or by the next swarming season.
The reason why this happens is, if you just get rid of the bees, the box will retain a residual pheromone smell of the previous bee hive. When a bee swarm moves into a certain location, they cover the entire box or entrance with their pheromone. This is one way they claim their territory. This smell also helps the field bees which are returning from pollinating and collecting nectar to identify which bee hive is theirs. The bee pheromone will also attract every bee in a mile radius to check out your previously inhabited bee box.
Each hive of bees has guard bees, which serve as the protectors of the hive at the entrance. These bees will ward off any foreign bee or insect trying to get inside in order to rob some honey. Now, if there are no bees to protect the box, any bee in the neighborhood could come in and rob the honey. Some bees might be looking for food, others will be looking for a new home.
Some home owners try to first, remove the bees and then sanitize the box with different chemicals, which could hide the pheromone scent. I say, why go through all of this trouble to remove the bees from the box, then take it down, then clean it, just to get a new swarm moving into it next year. We recommend just buying or making a new box that will not have the honey bee pheromone smell all over it, which will cut down on attracting every bee in the area to check out your property.
